This project was for the refurbishment of an 1879 former school building, latterly the Boardwalk nightclub, to provide high quality, flexible office accommodation. The existing building was a ramshackle arrangement of rooms, corridors and staircases and the intention of the development was to create a clear and efficient layout.

The introduction of two additional floors within the existing envelope provided a substantial increase in the available floor area and allowed for the creation of a dramatic mezzanine space within the steeply pitched roof of the main building.

The new layout focused on a powerful atrium space rising the full height of the building, which featured reclaimed parquet blocks applied to the walls inset with standard fluorescent tubes to achieve a refined and elegant solution at minimal cost.
