This project was an outline design proposal for a new residential tower on a slender but prominent site in the Lancashire town of Preston.

The building rises from six storeys at one end to eighteen storeys at the other and is arranged in a linear strip with the residential tower above a ground level retail podium and a landscaped garden in between.

Preston was historically known as the home of weaving in the 18th and 19th centuries and this is reflected in the proposed facade treatment, which features diagonal strips of metal panels following the rake of the roof and ‘woven’ around the structure of the building. This treatment helps to place the building in it’s local context and provides a historical connection with the town’s past.
